Story
Oppse Chair takes its name from the word opposite — a quiet rebellion embedded in its very identity. Born from a desire to defy the rational norms of seating design, Oppse begins by turning the seat surface 45 degrees, challenging how the body engages with space. This subtle rotation creates an unfamiliar ergonomics — an invitation to sit differently, to think differently.
As the rear legs ascend, they twist upward into an angular backrest. This rising form — strengthened by rib-like elements — mimics the flow of a spine, combining sculptural presence with structural intent. These “ribs” offer tactile and visual support, enhancing both comfort and character. The final curvature at the top serves as a natural grip, completing the piece with a gesture of continuity.
Finished in a vivid, metallic orange, the chair radiates energy and emotion. It’s not meant to blend in. It commands attention, evoking curiosity, joy, and even confrontation. Oppse Chair is more than a seat — it’s a designed moment, questioning the function and presence of furniture itself.
